Putin and President Obama have been at what has seemed in the past week to be a tournament of political wits over the conflict in Syria. Despite the misleading propaganda from most Republicans, the media – especially Fox News, the likes of John “sore loser”, 4th from the bottom of his graduating class, McCain, blowhards like Sean Hannity, and “el-Rushmo Boss Limbaugh” have been saying: “that Putin comes out the strong, decisive leader and President Obama looks weak”, just let me say, at last, The President is playing his cards about right. Look at what he has already accomplished by the mere threat of a limited strike against Assad:
(1) Assad has now agreed to allow an international team to come in and remove all of his chemical weapons. Whose idea was that? Check the chronology, and who initiated that solution. Fact: it was President Obama who floated the idea to Vladmir Putin several weeks ago, and it was John Kerry who answered the question at a news conference: “What would Assad have to do to avert a military strike”? John Kerry responded: “He can turn in all of his chemical weapons” (paraphrased)! So, whose idea was it – Putin’s or President Obama’s? Answer: President Obama’s. And how did he get Putin to decide to agree to persuade Assad? Answer: by saying that such action of turning in all of his chemical weapons would preclude the necessity of a military strike. So, who was “the decider” and who was under duress to agree? Answer: President Obama was “The Decider” and the narcissistic, macho, Putin was the weaker one who was forced to say “calf rope”!
(2) By deciding to go to congress for approval was not weakness on his part but just following the Constitution that requires him to do so unless there is “an imminent threat to the security of the United States”! It also allowed him time to better argue his case to the Congress and the American people, while seeking a diplomatic solution with Assad and Putin. Very wise and clever! Well, it looks like he has already gotten his diplomatic solution by Assad agreeing to not only give up his chemical weapons, but he has, also, agreed to sign the Geneva Convention Agreement to never use them again! If that works out: to that, I can only say – brilliant!
(3) As for all of you “chicken hawks” like “America’s Mayor”, Rudy Giuliani, (who conveniently moved his office within a few blocks of the Twin Towers just before 911), I can only say: too bad “W.” isn’t still President, so he could manipulate the intelligence to justify an invasion of Syria, play the media using “fear mongering” to cheer lead the American people into another mistake like Iraq was, while militarily trying to remove Assad and end up with another mistake like Iraq! President Obama realizes that a diplomatic solution is much cheaper, without having to fire a shot, requires little or no bloodshed, is much more effective, and wisely leaves Assad in power – rather than replace him with the uncertain future of a possible Al Qaeda and/or Muslim Brotherhood takeover, who hate us and Israel – if he is removed! It’s wiser to just referee this civil war – hopefully with the backing of the International community, and as for talking the narcissistic, egomaniac Putin into going along and allowing him to think it’s his idea! I can only say – brilliant!
(4) As for Iran responding with an attack on Israel – as some have said is why we should not make a limited strike, If Iran retaliates by attacking Israel, that would be a very bad mistake! Why? Because Israel is well prepared and has just been waiting for an excuse to attack and remove Iran’s Nuclear Enrichment Facilities! I think Putin, Iran, and Assad have all weighed that possible outcome and decided that would be a very bad idea!
At last, President Obama is learning how to be a wise leader – not a blowhard, bully like “W.” was, though I realize most people are more swayed by their emotions than their reason. If President Obama had only been just as wise to stick to The Public Option (very popular with the electorate) – rather than giving into intimidation for this unpopular monstrosity called “Obamacare”, that does little to reduce costs and subsidizes and benefits mostly private insurance companies, we would be out of this economic mess by now, as well.
He should also, rethink his removal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, that has indirectly caused an increase in sexual assaults in the military. Another mistake was his “evolving” toward an acceptance of the immoral perversity called “gay Marriage”- that will eventually destroy marriage and the family! He should, also, work to repeal The Patriot Act, that takes away our 4th Amendment Rights and that portion of The NDAA that takes away our Constitutional rights – under the 5th and 6th Amendments. The above are all serious mistakes of his administration.
However, If he can reverse his mistakes, and if this works out with Syria, he might, someday be called a great President. In the meantime, without firing a shot, President Obama could be the real macho leader in this problem of chemical weapons with Syria, but he should continue to play Putin, and Assad, to make them think they are the macho, king baboons, while Fox News and other blowhards unwittingly are saying the same – unwittingly helping him accomplish his ultimate mission of: removing all of Assad’s chemical weapons, getting him to sign the Geneva Convention – that he will never use them again, and providing a warning to other countries, who might consider using WMD’s on their own people, their neighbors – or us, in the future.
Wow! Now, that’s wise and impressive leadership!
